About the Book
The “Bakeries of Hyderabad” is an attempt to encapsulate a historical and perhaps fast-fading legacy of the city of Hyderabad – traditional bakers and their craft that have survived through changing economic landscape, customer tastes and preferences and black swan global events. Hyderabad is very often recognized and identified “as the city of pearls”. While this is one aspect of this fascinating city that effortlessly blends the constant and the dynamic, little is documented about its bakeries – every recipe that is not only a deep narrative but carries the legacy of its city, the tenacity of its owners who has persisted, adapted and survived to the vagaries of the world. The book also captures contemporary bakeries as Hyderabad is a city that generously welcomes the news. Some baker profiles have also been added to the narrative to complete a well-honed story of how good intentions and good food when made with love and served from the heart can be a beacon on hope in an otherwise chaotic world.
